Opt-In/Opt-Out for SMS/MMS/TXT messaging
Purpose
This policy outlines how customers can opt in and opt out of receiving messages from Cook Consulting and Services, LLC. Our goal is to ensure clear communication and compliance with carrier regulations, including TCPA, CTIA, and A2P 10DLC guidelines.
Opt-In Policy
Customers must explicitly consent to receive SMS or MMS messages from Cook Consulting and Services, LLC. We obtain consent through various methods, including:
A. Opt-In Methods
- Website Form – Customers can sign up by checking a box on a web form (unchecked by default) confirming consent to receive messages.
- Text-to-Join – Customers may opt in by texting a designated keyword (e.g., “JOIN” or “SUBSCRIBE”) to a short or long code. A confirmation message is sent upon subscription.
- In-Store or Paper Forms – Customers provide written consent via a sign-up form with clear terms.
- Verbal Consent (Recorded or Documented) – Customers provide consent during a call, which is recorded for compliance.
- Mobile App Consent – Customers opt in via in-app settings, with clear disclosures on messaging terms.
B. Required Opt-In Disclosure
When opting in, customers are informed about:
- The nature and frequency of messages they will receive.
- The fact that message and data rates may apply.
- Instructions on how to opt out at any time.

Example Opt-In Message:
“Thank you for subscribing to Cook Consulting Services alerts! Expect [#] msgs/month. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out. Terms: [link] Privacy: [link].”
Opt-Out Policy
Customers can stop receiving messages at any time using the opt-out methods below.
A. Opt-Out Methods
- Text STOP – Customers can reply with “STOP” (or recognized variations like “CANCEL,” “UNSUBSCRIBE,” “QUIT,” “END”) to the sending number.
- Website Request – Customers can unsubscribe via an online form on Cook Consulting and Services, LLC website(https://www.cookconsult.com/contact).
- Customer Support Request – Customers can call (847-932-4560) or email our support team ([email protected]), to request removal.
B. Opt-Out Confirmation
Upon opting out, customers receive a confirmation message:
“You have successfully unsubscribed from Cook Consulting Services alerts. You will no longer receive messages. Reply HELP for assistance or visit [link].”
⚠ Re-Opting In: If a customer opts out and later wants to re-subscribe, they must complete the opt-in process again.
Compliance & Enforcement
- Message Content Review – All messages must comply with A2P 10DLC guidelines, avoiding prohibited content (e.g., spam, fraudulent messaging).
- Audit & Monitoring – Opt-in records are retained to verify compliance with regulations.
- Carrier & Regulatory Compliance – Our messaging follows TCPA, CTIA, and mobile carrier guidelines to avoid penalties.
